original sin. The superior one became a sacrifice according to God’s plan. In order to be a live offering for sacrifice, he was crucified and tortured and shed his holy blood. We already know Jesus was crucified on the cross, but why did he have to do that? I will now address this question.

I told you at first that blood is life. The Lord in the Old Testament instructed the system for sacrifice as the shadow of those in the New Testament. God said, “as a penalty for the sin he has committed, he must bring to the LORD a female lamb or goat from the flock as a sin offering; and the priest shall make atonement for him for his sin” (Lev. 5:6). That’s the system for the sacrifice.

God prepared a new sacrificial system by the sacrifice of his Son born through a human being in order to remove all sins (Is. 53:10). Considering this, when there is a perfect sacrificial offering, are imperfect offerings necessary? No. Because of that, the curtain of the temple of Jerusalem was torn in two from top to bottom when Jesus Christ accomplished the sacrificial offering on the cross (Matt. 27:51). With it, God showed that the offering through the offering system in the Old Testament, represented by the offering

in the temple of Jerusalem, was no longer necessary.

Jesus said that eternal life would be to those who drink his blood. The question is: how can Jesus’ holy blood give us eternal life? When Jesus taught his disciples about his blood and flesh, they could not understand. So Jesus said, “The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life” (John 6:63). But still Christians could not understand the meaning of this statement. Therefore, they still believe that eternal life can be attained through the ceremony of eating bread and drinking wine.

The Old Testament states that atonement cannot be granted without blood (Heb. 9:22). When Jesus was born, the power of God worked on a human being, Mary. The life which was greater than that of an animal became a sacrifice on the cross. God received the offering through angels and then he changed it into the living water, which cannot be compared to the benefits made from a calf, pigeon or lamb (Zech. 13:1). The offering in Old Testament was a shadow of Jesus’ offering. The sacrifice of animal’s blood in Old Testament was imperfect but the sacrifice of Jesus’
