Chapter 18

18. Jesus knew God's Will after he received God’s Scroll.

From the sermon on February 18, 2007

Christians hope to go to heaven and they have believed that God has already prepared heaven for them. There are lots of praises with lyrics about an already-prepared heaven.

When the disciples heard that Jesus would go back to heaven, one of them asked, “May I follow you?” Then Jesus answered, “If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am” (John 14:3).

I told you that some words of Jesus were incorrect, because he did not know about the Will of God in detail at that time. It is very difficult for us to accept this. I said that he needed

to correct some of the words he spoke when he was in this world.

Jesus taught his disciples that he would come back before they died. “I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom” (Matt. 16:28). But he couldn’t come back two thousand years after he said that.

When Jesus came to this world, he only followed the way God planned for him. His only objective was to accomplish God’s plan for him, not to execute the entire Will of God. Therefore, he just discussed God’s plan within the limit of his knowledge.

When he spoke about the end of the world, he said, “What I said to you will be accomplished at the last day.” Then his disciples asked, “Then when is the last day?” But Jesus did not define what the last day would be, saying “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father” (Matt. 24:36). If Jesus, the son of God, did not know about the last day, how could we know about it? He said that only God knew it and then went back to the God’s world.
