Chapter 21

Jacob, he was trying to kill his younger brother, so Jacob had to escape from his hometown. Otherwise he might not have wanted to leave his hometown. Why would he want to leave his hometown in which all his friends and family lived? It was God’s plan. He forced Jacob to leave his hometown.

When Jacob stayed at his uncle’ home, he became close with his uncle’s daughters. That was also the Will of God - to make Jacob do his Will to make a great nation. God did not concern about what Jacob might have wanted for himself, because the plan of God was more important.

Then he prayed, “If God will be with me and will watch over me on this journey I am taking and will give me food to eat and clothes to wear so that I return safely to my father’s house, then the LORD will be my God and this stone that I have set up as a pillar will be God’s house, and of all that you give me I will give you a tenth” (Gen. 28:20-22).

God promised Jacob many descendants. So he thought, “I have to have many children as God told me.” Then he went to his uncle’s house and he began to serve his uncle. His
