Chapter 23

23. The Lord Jesus was looking for the Overcomer.

From the sermon on January 15, 1989

The Bible was not recorded for the benefit of humanity, but for the Providence of God. If you do not understand this clearly, your faith would be just on the human aspect and you will not understand God’s needs. Therefore, even though you might believe in God, your belief will be outside of the work for the God’s Providence. Faith in God is for the connection with God for his needs, not for achieving your wish in this world.

As I told you before, when God chose Abraham among many people in the world, he already had his plan to send his Son into this world. When God has a plan, it is very important being included in his work or not. God said in the Bible

that the people who believed in the Messiah would consider him the capstone, but the Messiah would be a harsh stone for those who did not understand about him (Ps. 118:22, Is. 28:16).

You have to understand that God chose Abraham not because he was precious, but because he was an essential component of God’s plan. All the kings and the people from Abraham’s descendents were necessary to having the Messiah into this world. All the things God had planned for Israel had been completed by the time that Jesus came to this world. You have to clearly understand it if you want to understand the Bible.

Even though Abraham and Moses were great servants for God and Jesus accomplished amazing work for God, they would mean nothing to us if their work was not connected to us.

Finally the Messiah came in this world. Jesus did all his work as the Messiah. Even though his birth was prophesied by many prophets from generation to generation and the Israelites were waiting for him, Jesus was not accepted as the Messiah by the Israelites. Do you think Jesus was a heretic
