36. The glory of the New Jerusalem

Revelations describes seven promises for the Overcomer. Today, I am going to talk about the sixth blessing. Revelation 3:12 says “Him who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will he leave it. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the New Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on him my new name.” Today, I’d like to talk about the name of the New Jerusalem.

The New Jerusalem is the final story of the Bible. One angel told John the apostle in his vision, “I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb” and showed him the Holy City (the

New Jerusalem) coming down from heaven, decorated with luxurious jewels (Rev. 21:9-11).

First of all, when God officially commanded sacrifice to him for the first time, he gave his covenant to Moses. When God chose Moses to work on his plan, he taught him for the first time how and where he had to worship him and what he had to offer for him. God commanded Moses to prepare the priestly garments for his elder brother Aaron in order to officially worship him. God taught him how to design the garments for the priest who could enter into the Holy Place. Nobody could enter into the Holy Place without those garments. In order to show that only those who wear the beautiful garments can enter into the Holy Place in heaven, God commanded the priests to wear their beautiful garments when they entered into the Holy Place in the Old Testament days.

The most important part was the square breast piece that was the size of an adult’s hand. Twelve precious stones were mounted in four rows. In order to put twelve stones in four rows, three jewels were mounted per row. On the twelve stones, twelve names were engraved very accurately,
