Isaac and Jesus
God commanded Abraham to offer his son Isaac for a burnt sacrifice (Gen. 22:2). The sacrifice of offering a child was common among Gentiles at that time. Abraham would have thought the command of God to be the same as any of sacrifice in those times. But God never commanded for human beings to be sacrificed, except for Jesus, his only Son. His command to Abraham to offer Isaac was the shadow of the sacrifice of Jesus. At the moment that Abraham tried to kill his son, an angel stopped him.
God was very angry that human beings created in his image were being delivered to Satan as a sacrifice. Canaanites used to offer their children to Molech, which was one of the reasons that God wanted to destroy Canaan with the Israelites (Lev. 20:2-5).
