Chapter 6

6. When will you be saved?

From the sermon on January 20, 2002

The most important issue in Christianity is eternal life. But Christians cannot explain the principle of eternal life because they do not know about the last day. Eternal life can be obtained after the last day, but we have no idea exactly how the end would be. So, I will explain the requirements for eternal life. There are many things hidden and veiled in the Bible; even when I try to explain with the Bible, it is very difficult for people to understand. Therefore I am very carefully discussing about it step by step.

When Jesus spoke to a Samaritan woman, he talked the living water, “Whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring

of water welling up to eternal life” (John 4:14). He also preached about the living water to people on the last day of the Jewish Feast of Tabernacles. “Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him” (John 7:38). When he spoke about the living water, he also emphasized eternal life.

In John 6:39: “This is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day.” Jesus said eternal life will be given on the last day to those who believed in Jesus or those who trusted in God in the days of the Old Testament.

In John 6:55-58 Jesus said, “For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him. Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your forefathers ate manna and died, but he who feeds on this bread will live forever.” He said this to explain the essential requirements for eternal life.

The Bible is a guide for Christians. We can have a faith if we
