Is there then no requirement for eternal life? Yes, there is; but we just do not know when eternal life will come. Then will Christians forever remain ignorant of what needs to happen before we receive eternal life? No. Jesus shared with us the requirements for eternal life after he returned to heaven. But since he is in heaven, he needs someone to explain it us on his behalf. This person is “The Overcomer”, who is prophesied in the book of Revelation (Rev. 2:17, 21:6-7, etc.).
The Overcomer is the representative in Jesus’ work and has the responsibility of preaching about the last day. So Jesus would enlighten the Overcomer on the knowledge to the hidden contents written on the white stone. “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give him a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to him who receives it” (Rev. 2:17). The hidden manna is Jesus’ flesh and blood and the stone is Jesus himself. The new name on it refers to Jesus’ new plan to achieve God’s work. That is given to the Overcomer only.
